Day 52

Harvest Hawks were in the spirit of Halloween today.  Many students dressed up and participated in the Halloween Costume Contest during break today.  Way to go Leadership students for your planning and support.

Day 51

Harvest partners with Embassy Suites Napa Valley to teach students about the hospitality industry.  The staff of Embassy Suites visited classrooms today to deliver an apple to every Harvest student.  The apples were decorated as pumpkins with a note reminding students that it is what is on the inside that counts.

Day 50

Thank you Harvest Parent Faculty Club (PFC) and Harvest staff for an amazing Fall Festival.  The community was able to trick-or-treat, participate in a costume contest, create art projects, and get scared in the Haunted Hall.  A free event to celebrate the season and family.

Day 49

AVID and AVID Excel spent the morning at Napa Valley College.  Students toured the welding program, physical education, police academy and medical sciences program.  AVID students were able to ask NVC students questions and talk to professors.

Day 48

Napa Valley Unified School Day hosted Food Day in celebration of the nation-wide movement supporting real food.  Harvest students who plant, grow, maintain and harvest the garden put together a display of the real food produced at Harvest Middle School.  Garden is a class that meets during the day learning about the design cycle through gardening.  These students work incredible hard and think critically in order to grow fruits and vegetables as well as take care of many chickens.  We are thankful Embassy Suites and Mid City Nursery for sponsoring our garden and school.

Day 47

Harvest ended an activity filled week with beautiful weather and waterpolo during PE.  Students have moved from learning swim strokes to playing a game of polo in the pool.  In the fall, it's great to be a Harvest Hawk in the Napa Valley.

Day 46

During Student Led Conferences, parents and students had the opportunity to learn together about Managebac.  Managebac is the learning management system that shows class agendas, homework, and grades.  If you have questions about Managebac or International Baccalaureate grading, please look for upcoming parent learning community sessions.

Day 45

Harvest Hawks work hard to stay in cardiovascular shape.  On Wednesdays, students run the mile on the track.  Students work to improve their time each week.

Day 44

Harvest students have planned, prepared and practiced for their Student Led Conferences during Advisory.  We can't wait for students to share their learning progress with their families on Wednesday and Thursday.  Great work, Harvest Hawks!

Day 43

AVID Tutorial Day today!  AVID 8 students review their Cornell Notes and come to tutorial with questions.  During tutorial students collaborate and work through the process of solving the problem.  Reflection is key!  At the end of the question, students reflect on how they solved the problem so that they can remember the process for solving.  AVID tutorial is foundation to student success!

Day 42

Language Acquisition 6th graders are practicing their Spanish using Quizlet.  Students are growing in their ability to listen, speak and write in Spanish.  Go IB Hawks!

Day 41

Reading is an important skill for life and a focus at Harvest.  Students read collaboratively today in Language and Literature classes.  Ask you child what they are reading for Accelerated Reader (AR) and join in the fun!

Day 40

At Harvest, 6th graders are inquiring into different writing genres today.  Here a student is reading poetry.  Through the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, we promote the importance of reading often and from various different writing genres.  We are readers and lifelong learners at Harvest!

Day 39


Harvest Hawks are scholars and leaders.  In 7th grade Individuals and Societies, Miss Davis taught one student from each group a  lesson and students were assigned to teacher their groups. In the video, students are teaching their peers.  Way to go IB Hawks! 

Day 38

Harvest is proud to have a Wellness Center that supports the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students.  It is a model for schools of how to provide wraparound services students.  Today, Village Napa leaders took a tour of the Harvest Wellness Center. Village Napa is a group of educators and mental health professionals, and parents in our community that focus on teen mental health and awareness. They have different events in the community for teens and parents, and one coming up is on Thursday at New Tech High School at 6:30, just for teens, called Teen Connect.

Day 37

Harvest Leadership and staff sported their new neon shirts today.  You won't miss our Harvest Leaders this year.  This group of students has led an assembly, a rally and a spirit day this year already!  Whew...they are busy building a positive culture at Harvest and we are proud of their ideas, energy, and spirit.

Day 36

Harvest is on the map!  Today we enjoyed showcasing our International Baccalaureate journey with visiting administrators from Norway and incoming 5th grade families.  It is powerful to walk through classrooms and hear our students talk about their learning and watch them in action.  Way to go, IB Hawks!

Day 35

Safe Routes sponsored a National Walk to School Day.  Many of our students walked to school and received a Hawk Eye.  Way to be principled, Harvest Hawks!

Day 34

It's time for logic and reasoning in Math 7.  Students collaborated in the game of Mastermind to practice their reasoning skills and ability to think logically.  We are Harvest Scholars!

Day 33

Design class spent today working on developing ideas for their cars and creating the solution.  Students learn the design cycle through hands-on experience.  We can't wait to see their cars race for the win!
