Day 80

There are over 200 students who have the opportunity to play an instrument or sing at Harvest Middle School.  On Friday, for the first time ever, they played in an assembly for their peers.  The energy and talent was incredible.  Way to go Harvest Band, String and Choir students.

Day 79

Learning math is fun!  6th grade math students participated in math stations on a rainy day.  They used their hands and minds to engage in skill building.

Day 78

At Harvest, we know that one of the most important factors in a students success is relationships and connections at school.  Our AVID teachers conference one-on-one with students to set goals, design an action plan, and review their progress.

Day 77

International Spanish Academy students presented their books using their Spanish language ability during their Language Acquisition class.  At Harvest Middle School, we believe it is important for students to be bilingual and biliterate.

Day 76

Yesterday students demonstrated their skills and knowledge by leading students through warm-ups or games in PE.  Students have been working on designing their own warm-up or game within groups.  Each team had to lead their class through their warm-up or routine.  It was high energy, engagement, and fun.

Day 75

We believe in a growth mindset at Harvest, not just for students but for adults as well.  All Harvest teachers participated in learning walks on Thursday and Friday.  Teachers went out to four classes each in teams to learn from each other.  The focus was how are we coaching kids up on learning skills.  Powerful inquiry and discussion.

Day 74

Got AVID?  We do at Harvest Middle School.  Our AVID students are proud to be in AVID and a part of IB and it shows in their new student designed AVID gear.

Day 73

As an IB school we value educating the whole child.  Visual and Performing Arts is a part of every childs' experience at HMS.  On Wednesday night, Brendan Day, the Harvest Music Teacher led the music students in the Harvest Winter Concert, which was a huge success. Over 200 6th-8th grade students performed in the Big Gym music for the holidays and more.  Congrats to the growth that students have made over the semester.

Day 72

AVID strategies support collaboration skills, critical thinking, reading, and inquiry.  AVID 8 students are participating in a Socratic Seminar discussion.  Students use inquiry to dive deeper into a text and make meaning with each other through discussion.

Day 70

Harvest Middle School and Napa Valley Language Academy International Spanish Academy students had the opportunity to hear Jonathan Palomar perform with the Grammy-winning Mariachi Los Camperos.
